Our Malas are a blend of high-quality crystal beads with hematite accents for grounding that we’ve strung on a durable nylon cord. The sliding logo-bead is knotted using an ancient macramé technique that allows the Mala to expand and accommodate for size and comfort. A Full Mala contains 108 counting beads plus one guru bead, which is usually larger as it provides a starting and ending point for meditation. The tassel, located at the end, represents your connection to spirit or your highest truth. A Mala can also be strung with 54 counting beads to create a Half Mala, or with 27 counting beads to create a Mala Wrap Bracelet. This makes them long enough to be worn as a necklace or bracelet, which can be taken off anytime to be used in meditation. Tap into this ancient practice of mindfulness and tranquility!
A Mala is a string of beads that are used in meditation to count breaths, mantras, prayers, or intentions. They are ancient tools that were developed to keep the mind focused and clear from thoughts. Malas are also referred to as mantra beads, meditation beads, Hindu rosaries, or Buddhist prayer beads and have been used in Buddhist and Hindu practices for centuries. When reciting a mantra, use any affirmation you feel is important to you at the moment. You say affirmations out loud, in a whisper, or silently, visualizing and holding your intention while reciting. Reciting a mantra takes your mind away from your daily life and establishes positive thought patterns. Repeating a single sound, word, or phrase focuses your attention and is scientifically proven to calm the mind. A broken Mala can be seen as a positive sign of progression along one’s yogic path and an auspicious opportunity to reflect on the blessings the beads brought you.
