Sterling Silver is usually 92.5 percent pure silver and 7.5 percent copper alloy. Sometimes germanium is added, which makes the metal even stronger and tarnish-resistant. Sterling Silver tarnishes over time, however, it can also be cleaned easily with a silver polishing cloth to return it to its original shine and brightness.
